Colorblind Creations
I have a good friend who loves to paint cars in Forza 3 on Xbox 360/Live. He has created many great designs for the members of our team but there is a small problem. My friend is color blind.
Depending on the colors he wants to use, he often has to rely on feedback from others (his wife and friends or team mates). He has at times ended up with some very 'interesting' designs because his friends were a little miss leading in their color recommendations ;-)
I have received a few cool designs and wanted to do something in return. I decided to create a couple of "Color Charts" so my friend could match the colors in the paint shop to references on the chart, hopefully helping him to create better designs with waiting for others to check his use of colors.
My friend suggested this may be of help to others as there are likely to be other 'designers' facing similar challenges. Note: The color references are 'subjective' (I tell it as I see it) and should not be seen as the official colors in Forza 3.
I hope they are useful for some of you!
Linux Mint 8 "Helena" RC1
Just downloaded and installed Linux Mint 8 "Helena" RC1. Sweet!
I currently have it running in Virtualbox on top of Mint 7 and will wait for the full release before upgrading my main system but I really like what I've seen so far.
Linux Mint 8
I've been using Linux in one form or another, starting with Slackware Linux, since some time in late 1993 (my memory is a bit fuzzy on the details). Back then installing Linux was a bit of a challenge for a noob like me... especially if you wanted a GUI, aka X which I did: Command Line stuff really wasn't my thing back then. How things have changed... but I digress.
I had some fun getting those early versions going on my wizbang Edge 386 DX40 with 4MB RAM and a 105MB HDD (but I digress again).... I think I even managed to fry a monitor by trying to adjust the screen settings using 'vidtune' or whatever the equivelent was called back then (there goes the fuzzies again).
Free True Type Fonts (TTF) for Linux
I do virtually all of my graphics work (web development, phote editing, etc) using The Gimp on Linx Mint About the only thing I ever miss from Windows & Photoshop is the True Type Fonts. I don't know why I've never done it before but a quick google lead me straight to this Ubuntu Blog with some excelllent links and instructions on how to install a variety of interesting fonts.
